Using a template

  1. I am loving this template I just downloaded but have no clue how to add it to the blog I already have:
    http://all-free-download.com/templates/templates_preview.php?url=http://images.all-free-download.com/free-website-templates-preview/wynton_magazine_template_1594/

Please let me know if it is possible to do this in a user friendly way?

    Warm regards,
    Snorri

The blog I need help with is hotelholt.wordpress.com.

  2. This is a free hosted WordPress.com blog http://hotelholt.wordpress.com/

We do not have FTP access to free hosted WordPress.com blogs and we not able to upload any third party themes.
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/

The only themes you can use on a free hosted WordPress.com blog are those found here > Appearance > Themes and showcased here > http://wordpress.com/themes/

There is no upgrade you can purchase that changes anything at all stated clearly here > http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

If you want to use any third party theme or build your own theme then don't waste any time here at all. Purchase web hosting http://wordpress.org/hosting/ and set up your own WordPress.org install. http://wordpress.org/ Then move your .wordpress.com blog content into it http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/

  3. You can't, I'm afraid. External themes cannot be added to WordPress.com blogs. They are only for WordPress.org blogs. Free themes are one of the ways malware is spread, and for that reason among others you can't install a theme here.

  4. So if I get a .org blog I can use this template?

  5. Yes. Expect it to cost $100-200 per year for hosting, and remember you're on your own for tech support and security.

  6. Cheers! Still a bit confused by all this as a layman but the cost doesn´t look too bad. Thanks.

  7. Personally, I've never met the theme that I loved so much I'd pay that, but it's an individual choice.
