Using the more tag

  1. I review books on this blog and include in each a synopsis of the book. These can become quite lengthy. I would like to be able to use a more tag to expand the synopsis and a less tag to shrink it back down. Can this be done on WordPress and can someone help me accomplish it?

The blog I need help with is foundbetweenthecovers.wordpress.com.

  2. Searching the support documents for More Tag - gives this as the top result

  3. Yes, I saw and read this article but it doesn't address what I'd like to be able to do. I want to be able to have a long section of writing that describes something with a break in that section with a more tab that allows the reader to read more if desired. If the reader clicks more and finishes reading, there would be a less tag to take him back to the full post. This wouldn't necessarily appear on the home page but in the post itself, with all action taking place in that post. Does any of this make sense. Take a look at the following link and you'll see what I'm talking about. http://www.thebookwheelblog.com/tlc-book-tours-etched-in-sand/

  4. @sherreya, the code required to do that, PHP or Javascript, is not allowed here at WordPress.com.

  5. If you have the Custom Design upgrade you can do something close to this (works by hovering instead of clicking):

  6. Thanks, thesacredpath, for answering my question. I thought perhaps it wasn't allowed, but it never hurts to ask.

And thanks to all the others who responded.

  7. You are welcome.
