Valid security certificate

  1. I have had this happen to me and to others. When I click on my website on my Twitter page, I am not redirected to my website as it says that I do not have a valid security certificate. How do I fix this?

    I have the same issue.

  3. I'm assuming that you don't know how to fix it either! And there is no email address to ask for support. Let me know if you find anything out or who to email!

    Thanks!

  4. Are you using https in the URL - maybe with a mapped domain name? If so try plain http in the URL - security certificates are issued to the underlying URL (wordpress.com in this case) not your-site.com.

Seems I remember this coming up in the past - I have also flagged this for staff attention

  5. That's actually quite normal. Rather, it's a misguided warning more than anything, and only you will see it when logged in.

When you connect to your Dashboard over an HTTPS connection, we use an SSL certificate to encrypt your connection. SSL certificates need to be signed to a specific domain, and we can't provide certificates for every mapped domain, so our certificate is signed for WordPress.com.

When you connect to your Dashboard via your own domain but your security software sees a certificate signed to http://wordpress.com/ it's altering you that WordPress.com may be intercepting your connection, which of course is perfectly fine.

Most security systems like this should have a way to add a permanent exception so you will never see the warning again in this instance.

Please let us know if you have any more questions!

  6. Thank you! I had used https instead oh http on my Twitter profile and have now corrected it. The link now works!!

    Thanks again!

  7. I got this from one of my readers. She was using Firefox. I suggested she try another browser and she was able to get in with Chrome. What do I do to make sure Firefox users are ok?

Please update your certificates on your website. My computer security system will not allow any access to the site due to:
"You have asked Firefox to connect securely to http://www.nationwideprayerdare.wordpress.com, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure. Normally, when you try to connect securely, sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are going to the right place. However, this site's identity can't be verified.

  8. They'll be fine, just make sure that you're linking to http://nationwideprayerdare.wordpress.com/ and not the version starting with https.

  9. This is the link that was on my facebook page that she says Firefox will not let her log on to. She received the message I mentioned which is "You have asked Firefox to connect securely to http://www.nationwideprayerdare.wordpress.com, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure. Normally, when you try to connect securely, sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are going to the right place. However, this site's identity can't be verified.

Is there a different place I need to adjust something? Thank you

  10. PS. As far as I know Firefox is the only one where there is an issue

  12. cindylynne, are you sure that she was visiting http://nationwideprayerdare.wordpress.com/2012/09/25/nationwide-unified-christians-november-5th/ ?

The fact that it's adding www. seems to be suspect to me. Also, which version of Firefox?

siciliannabeauty, which browser and mobile device?

I'm using the internet on my Samsung Galaxy s2x. Only have this certificate issue when browsing my website.

  14. And only on the Galaxy s2x? I don't have one of those to test myself, so that's going to be a bit difficult. There's no problem on an iPhone 4S.

Are you able to clear the browser's cookies and cache on that?

Good to hear there's no problem elsewhere. I'll try to clear the browsers cookies and such. Thanks!

  16. You're welcome!
