Visitor counter

    A couple days ago, certain posts got a significant hike in visits, when no other posts did. For instance, two posts I made about two and three weeks ago suddenly got 21 new views each. Since I have a new blog, 21 was a big spike, just for those two posts that weren’t my most recent ones. Then the other day an older post got 64 new views. I didn’t get any incoming links on them, so . . . I am just wondering what these spikes might be due to.

    Good question..I’m curious to see someone answer, because I’ve had something similar happen to me in the last few days….someone keeps googling Mickey…err…I mean Mighty Mouse, and coming to my blog.

    that same thing has happened to me
    i wouldn’t consider my blog small, now with over 13,000 hits
    but i did not have a new post in a whole MONTH (blog started in late june; no posts from july 13 – august 8) and my stats went crazy
    on the 13th i had only 2000 hits and on the 8th i had about 11,000

    If my eyes are playing tricks… here’s something that may get you to monitor your counters closely.

    The end digits now 885, I thot I saw 879 or 889 an hour ago when the day is 0. Now, here’s the differing factor: a +2.

    I remember clear there was a XX9… Now, no matter how I figure, how does 885 comes about?

    I’d observe again, and report more updates. :)

    Hello! Something is REALLY wrong with the stats!
    How can stats counter be sliding back one!? LOL~

    And it’s way too off! It seems not not to be picking up readings… Been observing for days, something is really wrong.

    Can anyone please provide some diplomatic but acceptable answers for these?

    Stats rolls to 887 with +4 for the day, now at +5 it’s 882… …?!
    I just cleared the cache over here.

    LOL~ I am laughing at this phenomenon… This is hilarious!

    And Ping.sg has been registering readings, and there was a few clicks for a topic from there, and WordPress registered no readings for that topic…

    Roll roll roll the stats, rolling down the press…

    Have you contacted staff about this? They are the only ones who can do anything about it.

    Nope. I just returned from work and was busy checking something else and maybe I’d do that later. So sleepy. :)

    Now, +21, 904…

    I was hoping that some people might also be observing that stats and discover this, or maybe Telly would be browsing here. I think Jeniffer said there was a bug, and it was like some big nasty long problem that got linked to other segments, maybe the team was busy killing this snake.

    Have you tried monitoring? It’s strange that only Scope got this issue. Usually one got it, many others also got it. :)

    Scope, this is entirely ineffectual. The only people who can do anything whatsoever about this are staff. Contact them.

    I’d observe on since WordPress is obviously doing something that maybe linked to the stats issue.
    We have just one more stats upgrade this morning, isn’t it?
