Want to keep tags but remove them main blog page view

  1. I have a lot of tags for each of my posts and I think it's becoming unsightly on the main page. Is there a way to keep the tags but just not have them show up on the main page? Is there a reason that I am missing why I should keep them on there?

Thanks in advance for your happy help!

  2. I'm sorry, you can only control the appearance of your blog with a Custom Design upgrade. To purchase this upgrade, go to 'Upgrades' -> 'Upgrades' in your Dashboard.

Please note that we limit the number of tags that can be used on a public tag listing. Five to 10 tags (or categories, or a combination of the two) is a good number to add to each of your posts. The more tags you use, the less likely it is that your post will be selected for inclusion in the global tag listings.

Now I am confused. When I write a blog, I create 'Post Tags'. How are they different from Global tag listings, or are they the same? Do the post tags drive readers to my blog or are they just there because they searched a term that I used in my post and Google sent them?

I have a few categories - Travel and then usually the geographic location. Should I be doing something else to be included in the Fresh Press listings? I thought those were strictly for my readers. Do they go somewhere else?

The explanation of global tag listings is not helpful either. How do I do this? Where do I do this? How do those urls send traffic to my post?

Thanks for helping me clarify what I should and should not be doing.

  4. Post tags and Global tags are the same. The word 'Global' refers to all tags on WordPress.com. We automatically ping all major search engines when you publish a new post. Please review this guide to learn more about Search Engines.

Sorry, none of the links are working for me.

I don't understand why I should only have 5-10 tags/categories. I cover a lot of ground in my posts and want to make it easy for people to find information on wherever their travels take them. They are definitely search most of the terms I have in the tags so it seems counter-intuitive to only put in 5-10.

Can you tell me the reason for this?

  6. There are unfortunately quite a few folks who abuse the tag system and include sometimes as much as fifty tags that actually have nothing to do with the post, hence the restriction.
