Want to scale images larger

  1. I have chateau theme. Is there a maximum image size you can use in posts. When I post images horizontally I can't scale them to fill the size of the available column. I'd like them to be bigger.

    The blog I need help with is oliveoilandlemon.ie.

  2. Yes there is a maximum displayed image size in every theme. By way of analogy you cannot park and image the size of a Mac Truck and semi-trailer unit right out of your camera into a Vespa sized parking space yet every day we get bloggers here who try to do that.

    Example of oversized image from your blog:
    Image URL http://oliveoilandlemon.files.wordpress.com/2013/05/img_0607.jpg
    Size 5,771.13 KB (5,909,640 bytes) That's HUGE!
    5,184px × 3,456px (scaled to 825px × 550px)
    Dimensions 5,184px × 3,456px (scaled to 825px × 550px)

    Chateau theme description http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/chateau/
    Quick specs:
    Content and one sidebar: The maximum content width is 529 pixels.
    Content and no sidebar: The maximum content width is 791 pixels.
    Full-width layout: The main column is 960 pixels.

    Prior to uploading any image into your blog, regardless if it’s a header image, a featured image, an image in a post or page, in a Post format (Gallery or Image), an image for sidebar display in an image widget or a text widget, you can optimize and re-size it in either a desktop image editing software or online image editing software to fit the space you intend to use it in. Doing that means there is no loss of image quality, you aren't wasting your media storage space and you won't be troubleshooting images. http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2012/03/26/cropper-or-proper-image-preparation-2/

  3. Hi @grainnep, I see you have hidden the "post extras" that were to the left of the posts. To recover that space for the posts and images, add the following to your custom CSS and see what you think. I've recovered the space, which makes your images display larger, and adjusted the post info to align with the post content on the left.

    .post-entry {
    width: 95%;
    }

    .post-info {
    padding-left: 15px;
    }

    Nice color scheme BTW, and I like the font you are using for the site and post titles.

  4. Thank you so much!. I will try that.
