GoDaddy owns this domain, the DNS names are pointing to NS1.WORDPRESS.COM and NS2.WORDPRESS.COM. How to I cancel forwarding and cancel free hosting on this account?
What are the steps to follow so I can transfer this domain.

Do you own the domain? It is registered at Godaddy - you need to talk with them to transfer the registration to another Registrar
The name servers seem to be pointed to a parked site on Host Gator for casinos
If you set up a web site with a host you need to point the name servers to your new site / host
I don't see a WordPress.COM issue other than the empty blog from a few years ago - set it to Private is the best option - that saves the name if you want to use it in the future
Dashboard >> Settings >> Reading >> Site Visibility >> I would like my site to be private, visible only to users I choose
