website help

  1. I was trying to build a website using wordpress instead I got a blog but not purposely. How do I delete the blog so that I can use my domain to build a website using wordpress? I need help

The blog I need help with is raleighyouthapri.wordpress.com.

  2. me too! need help!

  3. DO NOT DELETE THE BLOG!

  4. This is all semantics and blog structure.

A blog is a website. A blog is a post based website designed for interactive communication. As the posts are frequently updated and appear on the front page of the site it's very attractive to search engines.

What most people call a website is merely a page based website that functions as a one way noticeboard. As the structure is page based and as pages are for static content that rarely changes, and as pages do not have RSS feeds it is not as attractive to search engines as a post based blog structured site is.

Any WordPress blog can be restructured from being post based to being page based - no upgrade required. For greater clarity read > http://en.support.wordpress.com/using-wordpress-to-create-a-website/

  5. @raleighyouthapri

How do I delete the blog so that I can use my domain to build a website using wordpress?

If you already own a domain then you can purchase an upgrade to map from your http://raleighyouthapri.wordpress.com/ site to it.

    Read first please http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Note that WordPress.com does not accept domain transfers but mapping an existing domain is possible.

Domain mapping of an existing domain URL that you already own and purchased elsewhere is not done free of charge. You will have to renew the domain name purchase where you made it and the domain mapping purchase here every year.

    Important Notes Before Upgrading http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/#important-notes-before-upgrading

Mapping an existing domain costs $13. annually. In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com subdomain blog to map from and it does not matter what that underlying .wordpress.com URL is. It does not have to match the domain URL. If you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you log in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog and purchase a domain name by purchasing an annually renewable domain mapping upgrade for the blog.

See here for mapping an existing domain that you already own http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades is where you do the primary blog set up knowing it can take between 24 - 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What's important during that stage is to be patient.

We cannot even begin to help any blogger who fails to provide the URL starting with http:// for the exact blog they refer to. Please do that now.

  7. I want to delete my site and my account because i am not getting what I want how do i do that

  8. Hi again,
To delete a free hosted WordPress.COM blog you must be logged in under the exact same username account that registered the blog. To prevent accidental or inadvertent deletion of blogs, there are multiple warnings given that blog deletion is permanent and irreversible. Lastly, a verification link is sent in an email and must be clicked to delete a blog. If clicking that link does not work then copy and paste it into your upper browser window and click.
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/
Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made.

Alternatively, to change blog visibility to private go to > Settings > Reading scroll to Blog Visibility and choose option 3 . See the guide here http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

You must log in to post.
