What does the Posts Page option in Reading Options do?

    In the Reading Options, if you choose to have a Static Page as the Front Page, there are 2 options - Front Page and Posts page. Setting the Front Page to a static pages sets this page to be the front page for the site. What does the Posts Page setting do? I've set it to a page, and left it unspecified, but I can't see that it's doing anything
