What is a shortlink?

    Surprisingly, I searched "What is a shortlink" and got virtually no answers.

    So, what the heck is it? GetSocial states it's better to use than a permalink, so that's what I did.

    Just curious, that's all.... It's basically seems like an ugly version of the permalink! LOL

    A shortlink is a small sausage :)

    A shortlink is as the name says a short link.

    I did initially try Google, thank you... There are no immediate and clear definitions...

    Plus, I thought there might be something unique about its use here on WP...
