What is the best upgrade for me to purchase?

  1. I would like to talk to live support about upgrades to be sure I'm purchasing the correct upgrade(s).

The blog I need help with is rfljenksy.wordpress.com.

  2. See here first and click through for a clarity on what each upgrade includes: http://en.support.wordpress.com/category/upgrades/

  3. We don't offer on-demand live support, but I would be glad to help you either here or via email. Just let me know how I can assist. What are your goals and what upgrades are you considering?

  4. Thanks and am reviewing timethief's link.. and Kathry -My email is [email redacted] - I guess this is the problem. I"m not really sure what my goals are. I started just writing random blogs but seem to be photo heavy which in retrospect I knew I would be. Some things I have seen on others and I like -

    1. ability to attach mp3 (or just voice) ++
    2. ability to attach a personal video + (but not terribly important w/youtube)
    3. add pictures without worrying about space and the ability to possibly edit them to a better size or space in a blog +++++
    4. I would like some better flag counters or other addins or widgets but not sure which ones (I'm super new to this) +
    5. Customize some of the fonts +++
    6. Possibly at some point change themes but not sure I"m ready for that ++
    7. Possibly at some point have someone really knowledgeable mutate and edit my site for faster speed or better look.. I did the testing of speed of site and it's very slow.. but could be the internet here in Venezuela. going to Nepal next so not sure how that will be..

So far that's all I can think of. Short term is more photos and I had 3 GB to start with and started in June or somewhere then and have used nearly all of it and so not sure if 10 or 20 or something diff to add on is best.. Long term goals is to keep posting assuming one day my family will read and appreciate.. jeje

I appreciate any and all help and thanks for getting back.

  5. My suggestion is a very simple one that may not coincide with your approach. I suggest that you set up a blog spend at least a month learning how this software operates, what features are available and how to utilize them and then decide which upgrades you may need and want to purchase.

The reason I am making this suggestion is because I see blogger purchasing upgrades that are not transferable to WordPress.org installs (except for domains) and assuming they will achieve equivalency with WordPress.org installs when that's not possible. Therefore they have wasted their money because they did not comprehend the limitations on WordPress.com blogs and the differences between free hosted WordPress.com blogs and WordPress.org installs for self-hosting.

For clarity read: WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org: The Differences

  6. I would only buy upgrades that work with my original account and so far I do like what I have but started out just being interested in space upgrades but then saw some bundles. I don't really want to self-host.. at least not now.. so maybe I just need a space upgrade and not worry about all the others.

  7. 1. ability to attach mp3 (or just voice) ++

    2. ability to attach a personal video + (but not terribly important w/youtube) if you upload it to youtube then you can embed it in a post or page without paying for an upgrade.

    3. add pictures without worrying about space and the ability to possibly edit them to a better size or space in a blog +++++
All WordPress.com blogs come with 3000 megabytes (~3 GBs) of space for storing uploaded files and images. That's HUGE but If you need more space you can purchase a Space Upgrade when you need to.

    4. I would like some better flag counters or other addins or widgets but not sure which ones (I'm super new to this) +
There are code restrictions - no Javascript and no iframes.

  8. 5. Customize some of the fonts +++
