    How many other blogs are written by deranged Aussies who eke out fairly self-suffient existences as full-time crofters and swineherds in the dreich northern regions of Scotland? And how many of those think it's an absolute hoot to be poor, wet, muddy, cold and up to their knees in pig manure?

    Other than that, it's just the usual pile of meaningless drivel...

    Dreich. You don't find many Aussies using that one, Stonehead.

    That makes you stand out, in my opinion.

    Along with the 'roos hiding in the haar around your steading, obviously.

    It occurred to me later I should have made a Monty Python Pun about why my blog is unique:

    "an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope--um, I mean insects."

    Well, it would have been funny if I could have gotten the strike out to work...

    thanks for starting this thread, angelfire!

    actually, i never much gave it a thought. but now that you ask, i will try to formulate my feelings on this the best way possible.

    i am a very visual person. that means if a blog doesn't stand out visually, the first impression doesn't quite register in my braincells. that also means, if it is an outstanding blog otherwise, to me, it will be - the way letters put it - something that just lies around.
