What post format does a Reblog take?

  1. Hey all,

What post format does a re-blog take? i.e., Does it default to a regular post, an aside, a link, etc?

It would make sense to me that re-blogged posts default as links when the post format is available, but I don't think this is the case. Perhaps this could be a feature improvement that wp.com can think about in the future?

The blog I need help with is thezeds.com.

  2. The blog you specified at thezeds.com does not appear to be hosted at WordPress.com.

This support forum is for blogs hosted at WordPress.com. If your question is about a self-hosted WordPress blog then you'll find help at the WordPress.org forums.

If you don't understand the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org, you may find this information helpful.

If you forgot to include a link to your blog, you can reply and include it below. It'll help people to answer your question.

I'm sorry but I'm not a reblogging fan and I don't have an answer for you. I tagged this thread for a Staff response.

  4. Howdy!

A reblog is treated like a regular post, however, the only content you can edit on that post is any text/comments that have been added when it was reblogged. The original content cannot be modified, nor can the link to the original content be removed.

I hope that clarifies things! Let me know if you have any questions.

  5. Really? It looks like an Aside to me.

  6. I've tested to verify, and a reblog is posted as a Standard format post on your blog regardless of the original post format.

    I hope that helps!

  7. Thanks, all.

    (fwiw, the support-bot was a bit finicky as it's a domain-mapped wp.com blog.)
