What to do about malware?

  1. Google Chrome is warning that my blog contains malware. Can anyone advise me on this?

The blog I need help with is forgettheroads.com.

  2. I have a fairly new blog that apparently has acquired a problem with malware. What should I do?

  3. Click the link in the warning and follow through with deleting whatever is causing the issue.

  4. This thread is tagged for Staff assistance.

  5. Thank you!

  6. Did you click the link and read?

  7. Hi there, when you click to get details of the malware warning, here is what Google says:

What is the current listing status for forgettheroads.com?
Site is listed as suspicious - visiting this web site may harm your computer.

Part of this site was listed for suspicious activity 5 time(s) over the past 90 days.

What happened when Google visited this site?
Of the 146 pages we tested on the site over the past 90 days, 20 page(s) resulted in malicious software being downloaded and installed without user consent. The last time Google visited this site was on 2013-01-03, and the last time suspicious content was found on this site was on 2013-01-03.
Malicious software is hosted on 2 domain(s), including eco-peru.com/, sattlerei-schulz.de/.

2 domain(s) appear to be functioning as intermediaries for distributing malware to visitors of this site, including zabetonom.ru/, bomjesu.org/.

If you remove from your site any links to, or images hot-linked from, the domains eco-peru.com and sattlerei-schulz.de, the warning should eventually go away.

If you need further help, just let us know.

  8. Thank you for your help! I have deleted all links that I could find. Will the warning just go away? I have applied for a review.

  9. Eventually yes, probably sooner rather than later. Google's latest round of security tightening had all Twitpics, for instance, banned as malware. it was a little overzealous.

  10. As raincoaster says, the warning will go away once Google re-visits your site and confirms that the suspicious links are gone. Good luck!

  11. Thank you, everyone! The warning is gone!

  12. That was quick - glad to hear it!
