What would be the differences with a WordPress.com blog and a self-hosted blog?

  1. Hello everyone,

What would be the differences with a WordPress.com blog and a WordPress self-hosted blog?

I mean, if I self host my blog using the WordPress blog, will people be able to click the tags and end up on WordPress.com's listings like with WordPress.com blogs?
And will this system attract traffic to my blog too?

Or will I simply cut out from the WordPress community, and be left on my own ?

  2. No. If you self-host, then your tags won't link to wordpress.com and you won't be part of the 'community'. These forums, for instance, don't offer help for self-hosted blogs. If you head over to wordpress.org you'll find more answers to your questions.

  3. Also see the sticky post at the top of the forum: WordPress.com and WordPress.org - The difference? http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=3700&page&replies=1

  4. If you are not on WP.com your google juice will take a big hit. Our category pages are a huge boost to WordPress.com blogs. And of course, if you go changing your URL all the time because you're moving, you'll lose people. It's best to make those changes early in a blog and commit to one platform, one URL.

  5. ok I see, thanks for your help :) !
