Where are the Happiness Engineers?

  • We’re now well into Day Two of the disastrous comments “upgrade” which is causing a heckuva lot of problems for a lot of WordPress bloggers who have asked repeatedly for some information from WordPress what’s going on:

So far, the only response we’ve gotten from WordPress was a brief, unhelpful, uninformative, after-the-fact statement — which is closed to comments (how fitting!):

Where are the Happiness Engineers? Why no responses to anybody’s queries? If this keeps up, you might want to think about getting a new name for yourselves, ’cause there are a lot of WordPress bloggers right now who are decidedly UNhappy. =/

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • To be fair, this does sound like it was implemented very hurriedly based on a conversation the boss had on Twitter. It’s unlikely the support team were consulted, they have a lot of other tickets to deal with, and they probably don’t know much more about what’s going on than you do.

  • @wank:

They must know if they, themselves, are working on it or not (I mean the techs). That’s all I want to know.

  • I am very unhappy about the Infinite Scroll. I can understand if the gods at WP have decided to make a change which they believe will increase hits. And I can understand if they make this option a default. But when they make the change, without consulting me, or even announcing it so I know what the H is going on, and then they DON’T EVEN GIVE ME AN OPTION TO REVERT BACK, that’s what gets me mad, because I just spent a hundred bucks to upgrade, and I did not upgrade to this! Apparently my theme, Mistylook, doesn’t allow the widget to be installed which will allow me to revert back. Therefore, it seems I will now have to switch to another theme.

I am a very busy person and I’ve already spent a couple hours researching what’s going on. Now I have to spend a few more hours searching for a new theme and then tailoring my blog to look half decent with it.

I make $30 an hour. Are you going to reimburse me for my time, oh mighty we-know-what’s-best-for-you WP Gods?

On another thread a Happiness Engineer noted that the stats as a result of the change showed that people were viewing more posts. Well of course they are, because now they HAVE TO since they are all showing — that’s why the internet connection bogs down to almost unusable due to the infinite photo downloads! That’s why I used to limit my posts to only two!!!

Quite displeased, and if this is a typical example of WP’s attitude towards its customers I will take that into account in the future when recommending options for people to set up blogs!
