Where has my website gone?

  1. Warning! Domain mapping upgrade for this domain not found. Please log in and go to the Domains Upgrades page of your blog to use this domain.

When I log into my account there is no trace of my website pages? photos etc? If I upgrade the domain will my website re-appear?

The blog I need help with is beccawiseman.wordpress.com.

  2. What is the URL of the domain starting with http:// ?
What is the URL of the underlying .wordpress.com your were domain mapping from starting with http:// ?

  3. Do you mean this site? http://harkerspecial.com/

Warning! Domain mapping upgrade for this domain not found. Please log in and go to the Domains Upgrades page of your blog to use this domain.

  4. The only blog I see for the beccawiseman username is http://beccawiseman.wordpress.com/

The domain harkerspecial.com does not have a WordPress.com site associated with it, so if that's your site and you wish to point it to a WordPress.com site, you will need to purchase domain mapping.

  5. Thanks for your help.

So my wordpress account default URL was http://beccawiseman.wordpress.com/ but I pointed http://harkerspecial.com/ to it.

I created a whole website for http://harkerspecial.com/ (in my beccawiseman account) but now when I log in to becca wiseman wordpress there is no sign of the website I created?

If I purchase domain mapping will my website reappear with all my pages, blog, photos, about etc?

Where has my http://harkerspecial.com/ website gone?

    Thanks

  6. The domain harkerspecial.com has WordPress.com name servers now but there is no domain mapping to point it to a WordPress.com site.

If you would like to point it to beccawiseman.wordpress.com you can go into the Dashboard under beccawiseman.wordpress.com and at your Store > Domains tab (https://beccawiseman.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains ) choose the button "Map a domain you already own", and purchase domain mapping there.

If you want to point the domain to a new site, go to https://wordpress.com/my-blogs/ , create a new free blog, and then follow the steps above, going into the new blog's Dashboard.

I'm trying to remove the domain mapping so I can access my oursimplelovestory.com page through my godaddy account. I changed the DNS name servers back to the default ones on godaddy, but I still can't access my website. I did these changes 12 hours ago. I know that people can see my .com site, and I can access my wordpress.com site and dashboard, but I would like to have access to my .com dashboard again please.

Well, ok, here's what I did.

I mistaked domain mapping for redirecting a site. I've had oursimplelovestory.wordpress.com for two year, and I wanted to have more control over my creative content (ie, fonts, other themes, plugins, etc) so I got my own site hosted on godaddy and set up my site the way I wanted. When I mapped the oursimplelovestory.com to oursimplelovestory.wordpress.com (which required me to change my DNS name servers to wordpress.com ones), my hosted site's dashboard reverted back to the wordpress.com dashboard (I lost my ability to use plug-ins and all my fonts and theme reverted back to oursimplelovestory.wordpress.com). I could no longer access the dashboard with my plugins. So, I cancelled the domain mapping, changed my DNS name servers on my hosted site back to default, and got the refund.
    Here's where it gets weird.
So, I go to my hosted site, and try to log into the dashboard with plugins, but I can't access it. It gives me, "Warning! Domain mapping upgrade for this domain not found. Please log in and go to the Domains Upgrades page of your blog to use this domain. " The log in takes me back to my wordpress.com dashboard which, yes, has a selection of my oursimplelovestory.com blog, but not the correct dashboard. Really, I just want the two separated so I can access my new site's dashboard with all the plugins. People can access both sites easily, but I can't access the dashboards.

In reality, I realize all I needed was a redirect, but I didn't know that was an option until too late. I wish I could rewind twenty four hours, but I can't. I haven't had any help from the wordpress staff, and that's probably the most frustrating thing through all of this.

  9. When I go to oursimplelovestory.com I see your site: https://i.cloudup.com/hJWaq42a3b.png

If you're having trouble seeing it, that may be because you just updated the DNS yesterday, and it can take up to 72 hours for that information to update across the internet. Please be patient and it should be working shortly if not already.

You might try clearing your cache to see if that helps: http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache

When you changed your DNS back to WordPress.com, you had effectively moved your hosting, so you lost access to your self-hosted dashboad. Once you are able to see your site again, that should all be resolved as well.
