Where is the post I just published?

  1. I wrote a post and published it but it disappeared from my blog, dashboard, etc.

I'm certain it was published because the link was sent to a corresponding social media site. Problem is, I can only view the first 2 lines of the disappeared post on that social media site. When I click the link, I'm directed to a post of a different title and content. What's going on?

The blog I need help with is jadedsky.wordpress.com.

  2. Several people have reported similar problems. I flagged this for staff attention but in the meantime, use an offline blog editor like Windows Live Writer or Ecto.

  3. Thank you.

I'm awaiting resolve for this issue from WP.

  4. You may be able to recover an earlier post revision. Go to Posts > All Posts, hover over the title of the post, click Edit and check the Post Revisions module for previous saved versions of the post. http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-revisions/

If you're not seeing the Revisions module while on the editor screen, click Screen Options (top right corner of your Admin page) http://en.support.wordpress.com/screen-options/ to activate it. Then select the post and page modules to include them. http://en.support.wordpress.com/modules/#list-of-modules Then you ought to be able to go here > Dashboard > All Posts > Posts and locate the post and recover it from post revisions.

If you cannot locate the post for locating and restoring a post revision, and it's not in your Trash folder http://en.support.wordpress.com/trash/ then you will not be able to recover it. http://en.support.wordpress.com/trash/#restoring-from-trash

Did you create your post on the dashboard of your own blog?
Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New

Or did you create your post on the front page of WordPress.com?

Advice: Create your posts on the dashboard of your own blog
Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New

  5. I'm sorry you lost a post.

Problem is, I can only view the first 2 lines of the disappeared post on that social media site. When I click the link, I'm directed to a post of a different title and content.

Could you please provide the link you mentioned, so we can investigate?

  6. Here's a link to the post that disappeared:

New Year, New Blog (posts). Apologies, that's such a cliché title. Ughh. http://wp.me/pW2O1-9E

  7. Thanks for this - I see what you mean and will report it to our developers so they can have a look.

I was able to find your earlier post in Google's cache, so you can copy it from there if you want to recreate it: http://is.gd/tpudLj

As timethief asked earlier, could you please let us know if you created the post:

    - from Posts > Add New - https://jadedsky.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post-new.php
    - from http://wordpress.com/#!/post/
    - from the QuickPress box on the dashboard - https://jadedsky.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php

  8. Hi again - it looks like the new post content has overwritten the old post content, keeping the same page "slug" (URL).

We were able to replicate this is only by clicking the "back" button in Safari after adding an initial post. Do you remember if you used the "back" button to create the second post, or if you used the site navigation, like Posts > Add New?

  9. Yes. I created the 1st post, (New Year, New Blog (posts). Apologies, that's such a cliché title. Ughh. http://wp.me/pW2O1-9E), on my dashboard.

I created the second post by going to dashboard> Add new...

Timethief & Kathrynwp, you ladies are awesome! Thanks for your advice and assistance.

  10. Raincoaster, thanks for the tip.

  11. Thanks for the information - we're still investigating this and will report back.
