I asked a question earlier about why my "hiking" tag didn't show up on the home page. I think I might have asked my question the wrong way. Sorry if there's something obvious I'm not understanding. What I was trying to ask is, why doesn't "hiking" show up among the tags in the "Right now in tags" feature that starts on the home page and goes to a second page? Is a minimum number of posts needed from the universe of WordPress bloggers before the tag "qualifies" to be in that "Right now" group?

Which tags go into "Right now in tags"?
The tags listed on the WordPress.com home page are the most popular and active tags, as selected by a super secret formula.
There are any number of popular tags that don't appear there - not because we have anything against them, but simply because there are too many.
Okay, that's kind of what I thought. At the risk of sounding like sour grapes, I wonder about "Right now" categories like "all posts" and "opinion." But you can't please all the people all the time...
I've been blogging about writing for 21 days. My blog still doesn't show up in the Right now in Tags group. Why is that? My blog is even called WRITE Nonfiction in November.
Do you have any idea how many people are using that tag? You would probably have less than three seconds to click over to Right Now In Tags once you posted your post.
Also, without a direct link to your blog we can't even tell if it would be excluded from the global tag pages.
