Markel, by "Page View Share" I mean a button that displays the number of hits or page views that particular post has received.
Since this isn't tied to a sharing service, it doesn't seem like it's a "Sharing" option. What I will do is take down the suggestion and we'll keep it in mind.
The options for disabling the sharing options do not seem to appear for pages. It works perfectly for posts but the option to remove them isn't there for pages.
I checked and this appears to be true; I'll ask a few questions and see what's up.
Got all my share buttons up and running but am clueless (despite the instructions) about how to add more -- like delicious, buzz, and technorati. I have no idea where to get the info (sharing and icon URLs) to put in to add each one. It would be a huge assist if WP would either list the appropriate info for all these other buttons, or better, just add them to the group of drag-and-drop buttons already provided.
We tried to limit the selection of services available for the launch to make sure we had covered the most popular services and to not overwhelm people with a gazillion options (there are a lot of sharing services out there!).
A list of everything to do would be super-exhaustive and hard to navigate. In general, each service has a link format that it's looking for. All you need to do is find that link format and then replicate it in the form. The Google Buzz format was listed above, and is:
http://www.google.com/buzz/post?url=%post_url%
To show how they can be different, if you want to add FriendFeed, it looks like this:
http://www.friendfeed.com/share?title=%post_title%&link=%post_url%
As we see more use of the custom feature, we'll be considering if there are additional networks we should add to the pre-configured ones.
While using the Gallery category on the Twenty-Ten theme, on the index page the 'share this' and the share buttons do not display correctly on the Gallery post. It works ok once the post itself is clicked.
I just checked on my own site and I see what you mean. I'll check on this further.
Oops, nvm. That email address is the recipient's address.
:)
We wanted to give people who receive sharing emails from your blogs a quick way to subscribe to them by email so they can read more if they're interested.
I suggest to add a sentence in the sharing instructions that not all options are available for private blogs.
We'll see if this can be made more readily apparent.
