Who uses Facebook? Need to ask 2 questions

    Hi everyone,

    I think it's about time for me to (finally) join Facebook. However, I don't really want to create a Facebook account for "me" (i.e., using my first & last name). Instead, I want to create a "motorambler" Facebook "page" for my blog (http://motorambler.wordpress.com).

    My 2 questions are:

    Should I just create a 'normal' account & make my first name motorambler & leave the last name blank?

    or

    Should I click below that (on Facebook registration page) where it says "Create a Page for a celebrity, band, or business"? I would then chose the option "Artist, Band, or Public Figure" > "Writer" & name the page "motorambler".

    Sorry if these questions are silly -- I don't use Facebook & want to make sure I achieve what I want the first time :)

    The blog I need help with is motorambler.com.

    The way to go would be the 2nd option the fan page way.

    I chose to create a page for my blog it suited me better but I was annoyed to find it linked to my personal account which is now the admin for my page because I used the same email address.

    My personal account doesnt show on the Fanpage which is how I like it and there are more options to use than if it wasnt linked to the personal account.

    I have a FB Profile and also FB Page so the same thing happened to me. What bugs me isn't that there is a common admin but that any comments left on FB Page does not trigger any email notification unlike Profile comments. I find this behavious/design rather odd and the only way to overcome this inadequacy I have to "Like" every wall post I make in Page. Nice thing is i found a FB Page code that works in a WP.com widget and i placed it on the side bar http://shimworld.wordpress.com/

    Thats a great fanbadge! I tried an image in a text widget but I could never get it the way I liked, thanks I'll check it out

    One feature I really like is the RSS Grafitti, it feeds my posts automatically to my fanpage with excerpts too.

    I added Discussions to the page as well to create a bit of interest but I only have 2 fans and they only visit when I force them lol

    If you do the first option, sooner or later Facebook will delete your account. I have lots of pseudonymous friends on FB and every week Facebook deletes one of them. Then you have to start all over.

    @shimworld ... I love the Facebook Fan Page widget on your blog. Can you send me the code so I can add something similar on my site. I've tried useing the code FB provides, however, since it's written in Java it doesn't work. I want to add a FB Fan page to my site, but am not sure how since the code below doesn't work. Any thoughts?

    The normal runaround time on any blogging support for for receiving an answer to a question posted is 13 hours. I have answered you here http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/why-does-my-facebook-fan-page-widget-not-work?replies=3 Please do not drag every other Facebook thread out of the forum searchbox. We cannot use JavaScript on wordpress.com blogs. I have provided alternatives so go and read my answer to you in the first thread pleasee.
