Why aren't my new subscribers showing up in subscriptions?

Your stats page lists subscribers as WordPress.com Followers (XXX) | Email Followers (XXX). Together that list comprises all of your followers.
Sometimes someone will follow your blog, and then unfollow, so even though you got the email, it may no longer be listed.
