Why can't i export my wordpress, com to tumblr

  1. I want to export my texts to Tumblr, found the plugin but can't find the place to plug it in. copied the link /wp-content/plugins but then i get an error. I don't know what to do now.
    Blog url: http://sandyseifert.wordpress.com/

  2. There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.com blogs and we bloggers cannot install any plugins. Those found on the internet are for WordPress.ORG installs which run on different software.

Your blog is a self-hosted WordPress blog. For support please visit WordPress.org. http://wordpress.org/support/

  3. So can i export in any other way? or is this going to be a night full of cutting and pasting?

  4. If Tumblr has an exporter for XML files then you can create an XML import file here and import it there. http://en.support.wordpress.com/export/

  5. I've tried that! but the wordpress XML also won't open and gives an error

  6. @timethief

I want to export my texts to Tumblr

  7. I'm sorry but I have no other ideas so I flagged this thread for Staff help. Please be patient while waiting.

  8. Thanks!

  9. Or this one: http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/wordpress-to-tumblr

You may first need to import your WordPress.com export file into a self-hosted WordPress.org site as an intermediate step.

  10. Okay so i think this is mission impossible? It seems impossible to export 15500 lines of coding. Don't know what else to try. It's weird because i started a wordpress by exporting parts of my livejournal to it and that was nothing more than two clicks with my mouse i remember.

  11. Hi there - I'll enlist some help to get an XML export file to you. Thanks for your patience, we'll keep you posted.

  12. Thank you so much for your will to help me but i just copy-pasted the shit out of it and it is fine now :) thanks a lot though!!!

  13. Hi there - I was able to generate an XML file for you, I'll send it by email.

  14. Ah - just saw your last message - glad you found a workaround, if you think the XML file might still be useful, just let me know.
