Why can't I upload my pictures as I've done thousands of times?

  1. Pictures aren't uploading. They are relatively small files 300KB each - the same I've been uploading for years. My connection is good. I've cleared cache, cookies, temp files and so on. My upload speed hasn't changed. WordPress starts the process gets half way and goes out to lunch. I might add that the admin landing page is being wonky too from time to time. I have IE 8, Vista machine, 30MB uploading speed. I just posted yesterday fine...what changed in less than 24 hours? Nothing at my end.

The blog I need help with is jlfstudio.wordpress.com.

  2. Same problem here. I was uploading image files w/o any problems then suddenly it failed to upload any more image files. No error message nothing. Just hang there!

  3. Thanks for the confirmation.

Hm...maybe an outage of some sort then. Is there a page where WordPress lists those kinds of issues so we can get a time frame on when it will be fixed?

I know I really can't complain since the service is free right? And most of the time everything works reasonably trouble free and for that I'm very grateful. One of the reasons in fact I encourage people to sign up with WordPress. But I'm part of a group blog hop and it messes up the route if one of the posts is down. While I can describe the cards and artwork people really want to see a picture right? :D

I'm not able to place my pictures where I want them. They are going to the top of the page. Even if I put something written first, when I upload pictures, they are going to the top. what´s going on?

  5. That little trick has been going on for awhile now. Ever since the recent change to the add media interface. I can make it behave if I add one picture at a time and make sure all other boxes are unchecked (well...most of the time I can) but if I add more than one they all load at the top of the page. I wonder if todays outage is WordPress trying to fix that insertion problem. I can live with one or two of my major sites working on rebuilds or upgrades but this week it seems that everyone who has a site has decided to update, upgrade and rebuild. ARGHHHH! The internet is not my friend this week. :(

  6. I also have not been able to upload photos from my computer as I always have for several years! Started yesterday and still nothing this morning. HELP!!!

  7. Same problem here. I can't upload photos as I always have. The uploading stalls when partially done. I've cleared my cache, rebooted, have an excellent connection...

Couldn't upload last nigh, can't this morning. I had no uploading problems before they changed things. I can't help but think of the old saying, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

    Help please...!

  8. You can drag the picture from the top to where you want to have them in your text.

GYMBRAT, you are right. It worked for me, thanks. Very helpful. Don´t know why it didn´t occur to me earler, probably because I never had to do it. Many thinks.

  10. Same problems here with not being able to upload photos. Now the 'add media' button has been added it no longer works . . . worked fine the old way - STOP CHANGING THINGS THAT WORK FINE AS THEY ARE. That's my blog wrecked now. THANKS A BUNCH WORDPRESS.

  11. I can upload photos, but how do I make my photos 'sticky', like I used to before you changed to 'media'. My post is sticky but my photos aren't and won't show up. The new media function doesn't work. Why did you change it and not tell anyone how to use it. You can't just drop off some of the functionality. How frustrating.

  12. Now the pictures are back to being placed where we set the cursor, just as it used to be and which is much easier. I wonder if that change was done as a result of all the screaming and hollering that went on here? In any event, thank you so much for this change, WordPress!

  13. Same problem here, since the WP changes uploading photos has almost been impossible, I get error messages all the time. Cache cleared, several browsers tried, internet connection fine, so I can't figure it out. Help?

  14. Have any of you consulted the sticky post at the head of this forum?

  15. Thanks Timethief, but it doesn't address the problems some of us are experiencing. I'm trying to upload some images at the moment and I'm getting an error message every time, no matter what uploading method I try. I'm clueless on techy matters, so it's most probably a techy problem at my end, if anyone could help me solve it I'd be eternally grateful! Thanks.

  16. Just to add: the message I'm getting is:

"An error occurred in the upload. Please try again later."

  17. Any progress on this? Photos still either not uploading (error message) or taking forever. Thanks.

  18. Forgot to add, when I finally get to 100% on some photos, the 'crunching' freezes when it reaches the full blue 'bar'.

  19. If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.

Note: If you are using an IE9 browser in compatibility mode that makes it render as IE7 and IE7 is not supported. To disable see > http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1196-internet-explorer-compatibility-view-turn-off.html

If you are, please do these four things:

    1. Try clearing your browser’s cache http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050

    2. Make sure that you have third-party cookies enabled http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/

    3. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.

    4. Try enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/

If you are not successful let us know which browser (and version of it) you’re using and post any error reports you get.
