Why do I have four likes and a new follower with only one recorded visitor today

  1. No big deal, really, I was just wondering how people view the posts without being recorded in the stats.

  2. Likes can come straight from the email your subscribers receive, they don't have to look at your post directly to Like it.

  3. Yeah, I figured on that but what about when the likes come from people who are not subscribers?

The likes and follows can come directly from the Reader, and that doesn't count as a 'hit'. Only a visit to your actual blog will count as a hit.

  5. Redsoulnights response is a bit unclear to me. How can people who are not subscribers like or follow without visiting the blog. Where can they read it without visiting the page?

I am confused and have the same thing happening on mine as well and it seems I am missing something in translation here.

  6. Likes and shares are misleading when you are talking about page view stats. Your followers and anyone with a WordPress.com blog who is logged into WordPress.com can "like" and "share" your posts in several locations such as the Reader without ever clicking into your blog and creating a page view stat.

I choose to reduce my RSS Feed to "summary" here > Settings > Reading
For each article in a feed, show
    Full text
    Summary
Doing that compels followers to click in and read the full post on my blogs.

WordPress.com stats are not real time stats. that means they take time to update. Also as I posted above one does not need to click into your blog and create a page view stat to click a like button.

Why don’t post/page views add up to total views?
Post/page views are included in total views, but there are many views to your site that are not a post or page URL. The front pages, category/tag/date/author archives, and searches are all examples of other views that only count towards total views. http://en.support.wordpress.com/stats/#additional-info

  7. Thanks, timethief. That clears it up.

    You're welcome and best wishes.
