When your subscription expires, you lose your customizations and theme resets to its default. I wrote to staff enquiring possibility of a lifetime subscription, sadly one isn't available for consideration.
I think it's a great idea for WordPress to offer a reasonable Lifetime Subscription fee to those who want their site layout retained for a very long time. As long as handing over the blogging baton to their family member to continue the legacy.

I think we should just pay a one time fee... even if they up it a bit!
