Why does my blog picture/icon not appear when sharing?

  1. The logo of our site does not appear i.e. on Facebook when I want to share a blog post. I have tried on several occasions to upload in dashboard/settings/general on the blog picture/icon but while it appears that it has been successfully uploaded with the new icon displaying it isn't recognized when sharing...
    Blog url: http://thefutureofoccupy.wordpress.com/

  2. Are you sharing your posts directly on Facebook, or through the publicize feature?

  3. We have not used the publicize feature yet, we have other widgets doing that job on FB and twitter. The strange thing is that I haven't had this problem before with my other blogs on wordpress, following exactly the same way I added the blog picture/icon as described above...

  4. Any ideas people?! : /

  5. You might want to try using Publicize:

We send the first five images that are uploaded to a post to Facebook:

But ultimately, we don't have any control over whether Facebook actually uses the graphics.

Ok I just checked Facebook and all is ok on there. The icon has been uploaded and working fine on our Facebook page, just like the other two Facebook pages I am an administrator of. Only when we share from our wordpress.com website do we encounter the problem.

    > You might want to try using Publicize:

The publicize option is a possibility and we will try that option when we publish our next posting BUT in light that when we use the 'share this' option at the bottom of every post that doesn't work I am left doubting that publicize will work either. Crucially it is not a solution for when we want to share a particular key document or a blog post from a previous date.

    Your help is much appreciated!

  7. When you use the "Share This" feature, you should have the option of selecting any photos that are attached to the post that you're sharing. You may not have the option of selecting your blog picture, unless it's attached to the post in question.

You might consider posting links to your posts manually if you want more control over their presentation. You can use Publicize for future posts.

I can't do that on Facebook... When I manually paste a status update all I get is the inverted G on its side icon.

We don't plan to use the blog picture/icon in every blog post. Doing that is like a bandage to a problem that we are still waiting to be resolved.

  9. It's actually up to Facebook to choose which photos to display. They use a very strict set of criteria that we have no control over.
