Why doesn't the cropping rectangle appear when I upload a header image?

    I want to change my custom header, but when I upload my image, the cropping rectangle doesn't appear on the screen so I can't select the appropriate part of the image or edit it in any way.

    Have you considered doing all your image optimization and resizing prior to uploading the images?

    That's what I do. I get better image quality. I don't waste my image storage space and I don't have to do any image troubleshooting at all.

    I've looked at the support doc here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/image-editing/ and I'm wondering if the browser version you are using is a factor in the nonappearance of the cropping rectangle.     The same idea occurred to me--upload an image that's already sized for the header. The header page gave me the correct pixel sizing for the image. I have Photoshop Elements so I figured out how to do it using that program instead and uploaded the cropped pic. Love how it turned out!
