Why is my post editor so unstable.

  1. My editor is very unstable when I am using it to post or edit. While typing it continuously jumps back to the top of the page when I use certain keys and I have to scroll back down to where I was to continue. It just began doing this about a week ago as far as I can recall, but it's very annoying and distracting. I get so frustrated I have to stop working on my blog. Any thoughts on this? I don't have this issue with any other blog venue I have only WordPress.com so I figure it's not anything on this side of the screen. Thanks in advance.

The blog I need help with is momentsoftime.wordpress.com.

  2. I think you need to add your blog url in order for someone to give you a hand.

  3. well many things such as, if you start typing in the editor before the page fully loads. Another issue I've experienced is that when I check spelling the page seems to jump. Also on my linux when it autosaves the first time, my page jumps up.

What certain buttons are you pressing that's making the page jump?

  4. This has been observed by a few people using IE and I don't think anyone has ever figured out what is causing it. I can't reproduce the error in IE 7 or 8 at all.

One thing you might try doing if you are using IE8 is to set your browser to compatibility view while on the editor page: http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2008/08/27/introducing-compatibility-view.aspx .

  5. I have this problem in IE8 and have to use compatibility view, as tsp states.

If you start using compatibility view for WordPress, be aware that certain HTML and other code may display differently on the blog when comp. view is turned on vs. when it is turned off. It's like working with two different browsers in that respect.

  6. IE is a mess right now since as likethebike says, IE8 has multiple personalities and the mechanisms MS put in place to try and automatically switch back and forth between the two are less than optimal - not all MS's fault. As more and more sites make adjustments to accommodate the multiple personalities, things will get smoother.

My suggestion though would be two download and install Firefox to work with wordpress. Less irritants all around with Firefox.

  7. I'll chime in just to agree again, on that suggestion of Firefox. And add that Opera also works fine.

  8. Thanks to all of you for the assistance. To answer a few of your questions my url is http://momentsoftime.wordpress.com and I have MS Vista Home Premium with IE8. I took your advice and downloaded Firefox and the problem appears to be solved. When I checked back to see when I began using IE8 I found it was around the same time I began having a problem with my editor on WordPress.com.
