Why is the word `Aside` appearing beside the title of a blog post?

Hi there, I am wondering why it says Aside in faint lettering beside the title of my most recent post in the dashboard screen?

The blog I need help with is odetojapan.wordpress.com.

  2. This is a post formats issue http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-formats/

If you are creating all your posts on the front page of WordPress.com at this link http://wordpress.com/#!/post/ then you are creating asides - not standard posts.
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/new-post-screen/

If you create your posts here on your own blog's Dashboard > Posts > Add New then you can select the "standard" post format in the far right hand column and this will not be an issue.

You can Bulk Edit your posts from the Edit Posts Screen and select the "standard" post format and then click "update"

    Hi Timethief,

About the Aside appearing beside title of post

Thanks for your help but your suggestions don`t work given the flower power theme I use.

    Your advice:
If you are creating all your posts on the front page of WordPress.com at this link http://wordpress.com/#!/post/ then you are creating asides - not standard posts.

If you create your posts here on your own blog's Dashboard > Posts > Add New then you can select the "standard" post format in the far right hand column and this will not be an issue.

    Reply:
I have posted new posts from the front page of wordpress before and have never had a problem. Generally though, I use the one you suggest - Posts, Add New (without the standard format option, which I do not have).

    Your advice:
You can Bulk Edit your posts from the Edit Posts Screen and select the "standard" post format and then click "update"

    My reply:
The solution you suggest - to edit the post to standard does not work as I use the flower power theme. I have the option to update to bouquet but I havent yet and did not intend to because I like the flower power theme. However now it looks like Ill have to. This theme, flower power, does not support the new selection of formats. It does not appear in the edit screen.

  4. Editing the post to standard format works in ALL themes.

    Hi again,

Look I dont want to be contradicting a member of staff but it doesnt even appear in mine. I copied my quick edit section (it doesn`t look very good I know) below and as you can see there is nothing below the Status option which is where the list of formats should be (according to the support page on same).

I was looking around in my dashboard for ages yesterday after Time Thief responded and could not see any option for selecting formats. Thats why I got back to her. Believe me, Im not interested in wasting anyones time. There really is no sign of this standard format option on my dashboard. Also, there is a list of themes which accept the list of formats in your support section that does not include flower power (its in the post format page as you probably know).

Quick edit right hand of screen:

    Tags
    Allow Comments Allow Pings
    Status Make this post sticky

    Great! Thank you so much!
I was just afraid to cause a big disaster into "my" blog.

    Cheers from Italy! :)

  7. @korubettoshaiku,
I guess your theme does not allow editing the post format. It's happening the same to me (I'm using the Vostok theme).

Unless someone explains this properly, my guess is that certain themes don't allow this.

  8. If you open the post in the main post editor, you can change the post format from the pulldown in the "Formats" module which is typically down on the lower left in the editor page. If the module doesn't appear, go to screen options tab at upper right and activate it.

  9. You can also switch to a theme that does allow post formats, change the format, and then switch back to your regular theme.
