Why is the word dot used in the url?

  1. My new blog is listed as, thecolorofhistorydotblogdotcom.

When I applied for the blog I asked for, http://www.thecolorofhistory.blog.com. This is what I thought it would be listed as. Why is the word dot used instead of using periods?

    Can I change this?

    Ken
    Blog url: http://thecolorofhistorydotblogdotcom.wordpress.com/

  2. You can have this blog on wordpress.com:
    from:
    http://en.wordpress.com/typo/?subdomain=thecolorofhistory

    thecolorofhistory.wordpress.com doesn’t exist
Do you want to register thecolorofhistory.wordpress.com?

Or, if you don't like the ".wordpress.com" ending on the url, look into domain mapping:

Please note that there are various flavors of wordpress with significant differences, and if wp.com is not for you then take a look at wp.ORG:
