Why should we post?
Ummm if you have a blog here at wordpress.COM...why wouldn't you want to post to it?
Hmmmm ... a deep question
When it comes to posting in your own blog, there are no shoulds - only coulds. Posting fresh content regularly tends to hold reader interest and attract more readers.
When it comes to posting in this Support forum we should only post to either ask or answer questions about how to use wordpress.com software. If we want to chat we can post in the Off-Topic forum. If we want to promote our blogs we can post in the Showcase forum.
What is the true meaning of the post. Will the post ever reach sentience. Tough questions...
If a post falls in the forest, and there is no one there to hear it, does it make a sound?
people patiently posting productive posts probably profit perpetually
This thread is now merged into the "Off Topic" forum for further discussion
Do posts like pie? Damn these questions are tough.
Good one! :)
I'm in it for the money.
LOL Yeah, me too :D
I'm in it for the love and I feel a lot of love about here. Failing that.
Lend me a fiver, eh?
Rock trivia- Ian Kilminster A.K.A Lemmy of Motorhead and ex Hawkwind garnered his nickname by his addiction to fruit machines. He would badger his bandmates with the legend- "Lemmy a quid?"
I do it in my spare time. Two years this weekend and still going. A lot in the industry I blog about know who I am and most of them hate me. Great feeling that I can piss off so many people without even trying. People email me things to post because no other blog will. I found my calling!!
About the money part, I always feared if I self-hosted and found sponsors, I would have to tell them my personal information for me to get paid. But doing so could get me killed considering the people I deal with. Now since my computer died two weeks ago and I'm on this dreadful laptop for the time being, I'm actually thinking of PayPal which is allowed here. But I don't know how secure that is and if whoever donates to me will ever know my real name and address. Have to look into it. Would be nice to have the money to buy a new computer when it dies on me again. I'm cursed when it comes to computers and they die real quickly on me.
I think, on a wider level (ie: not just about why I post, but why people might post in general) that people like to feel loved and famous. Blogs give people a platform to talk to others, but without knowing who exactly is listening. And if we don't know, we can imagine who is, and feel loved and important about it.
Also, blogging is like a one-person conversation. And let's face it, most people only like the part of the conversation when they're talking. It's much harder to listen. In blogging, listening is non-existent.
Wow, started off my new year thinking about some heavy stuff! Thank you, 155brenna!
If I don't blog every 108 minutes the world will explode...
No wait, that's just ABC Lost.....
I post, therefore I am.
I post, but no one really knows who I am... How could you pass that up?
LOL. my bf hates that I blog. He thinks its childish. If he only knew that 3/4 of the world actually does. Writing, and moreso, creativity is a love of mine. I like using my mind, and evoking emotion in others, so I guess I'm in it for the fun of it. Interaction definitely adds to the experience too! I love it so much, that now, I have two blogs haha
Happy blogging folks!
LMAO!~ xtap I thought I was the only one who does 'carry on'.
Kymlee your blogs definately are not childish!
lol. thanks Bats! :)
but what's the use if no one reads it? sure i like just being able to write but if it doesn't inspire others...it's pointless. i know my blog isn't the best in the world and it is very random and sometimes depressing, but the stats kill me. knowing no one reads it...
To post or not to post -that is the question.
Whether ‘tis nobler in the mind to suffer
the slings and arrows or outrageous comments
or to take arms against a sea of bloggers, and by opposing… post?
To die, to post no more
And in that death to say we end the heartache
and the thousand natural shocks that posts are heir to
- ‘Tis a consummation devoutly to be wished.
To sleep, perchance to dream -Ay, there’s the rub
For in that dream of posts, what posts may come,
when we have shuffled off this cyber blog, must give us pause!
There’s the respect that makes calamity of blogging.
For who would bear the whips and scorns of comments,
The spammer’s wrong,
The cyber “friend‘s” contumely,
The pangs of disprized pages,
The Internet’s delay,
The insolence of “customer service,”
And the spurns that patient merit of all the time this takes,
When he himself might his quietus make with a bare, white page???
What would posters bear,
To grunt and sweat under a weary blog
But that the threat of something after the Internet -the undiscovered country-
From whose bourn, no traveler returns,
Puzzles the will and makes us rather bear the weary posts we have
Than fly without this Net we know not of?
Thus conscience does make posters of us all
And thus the native hue of Not Posting
Is sicklied o’er with the pale cast of thought
And enterprises of great pith and moment
With this regard, their currents turn awry,
And lose the name of action.

PS: I don't post!
okay! i've got it! we post cause we need something to talk to that won't talk back! (or give you a weird look like your dog would...yes i've tried it...)
I agree with Zoey... It's nice not having to argue or explain your point, but just to state it.
Because self absorbed people with superiority complexes think they are interesting enough that people will actually want to read about their twisted, depressing little lives.
Oh yeah, I have a blog, don't I?
hahaha! exactly! sometimes we just need to get something out but who are you going to tell. yes the real purpose of post! we are brillant!
Its better than watching the television and its a little more fun than watching paint dry, a little, just a little. Actually black matt paint can be a bit fun to watch if you a desperate to watch paint dry, watching it turn from a gloss to a mattt finish. Fun might not be the word but its still better than watching Eastenders on television or Big Brother.
It's simply about having your very own corner of the net. But it's also about exercising the thoughts that must be put down in some static medium. You're probably someone who sits and waits for comments or you're probably someone who never really concerned yourself with who reads. In the end, it's just a matter of expressing your freedom to have a voice that reaches further than the natural sound of your own physical voice.
u've seriously watched paint dry?!?!
