Widely Theme Help

  1. Hi, I would like to know how to use this theme properly. I wanted the homepage only shows the summary of my latest posts not full text. But after some time change options here and there, I still can't do it.

    The blog I need help with is kurodot.wordpress.com.

  2. How to create an excerpt as a workaround to display full post.

    This applies to any theme that provides automatic excerpts on the front page. As there is an active excerpt box below the post editor, you can control the length of the excerpt displayed and the exact excerpt that is displayed . This is the workaround you can use to override excerpt display on the front page.

    You compose your whole post first and before you publish it you switch to the HTML (Text) editor, copy the code for what you wish to appear, paste it into the Excerpt box below the editor, and publish the post. http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/excerpts/#creating-excerpts
    If you want to create your own excerpt for each post then that will have to be done on every post.

  3. Ignore the above confused and irrelevant reply.
    If you want a regular home page but with truncated instead of full posts, edit each post and use the more tag:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/
    If you want a homepage like the one on the theme demo, create a new page (Pages > Add New) and set your blog front to display that page (Settings > Reading).

  4. @kurodot
    I apologize for posting the exact opposite of what you wanted.

    @justpi
    Thanks for the correction.

  5. @timethief: Thanks for the specific and detailed reply :D

    @Justpi: Okay, I should make a page, but what is the page consist of ? Can you explain it to me further ? :D Can I make the page consist of my latest posts ?

  6. I know it seems strange or incomplete, but if you want your homepage to display your latest posts the way the theme demo does, you need to do exactly what I said: create a new static page and set your blog front to display that page. The page should consist of nothing: just enter the title you prefer (on the demo it's "Latest News") and click Publish.
