widen copy

  1. How can I eliminate the sidebar 1 and widen the copy of my blog using the space sidebar 1 takes up? Yoko theme.

    The blog I need help with is roncostellodotcom1.wordpress.com.

  2. Hi Ron,

    I see you are using Yoko theme. In order to remove the sidebar and extend the copy across the page you can add the code below using Custom Design => CSS.

    Let me know if this helps.

    #secondary {
    	display: none;
    }

    #main {
        float: left;
        overflow: hidden;
        width: 98.59%;
    }

    #content  {
        float: right;
        margin: 0px;
        width: 98.5%;
    }
  3. Kaniamea, thank you. Will that remove both sidebars? I was able to remove on and I'm thinking of leaving the other remain. But I will use your code to see what it looks like without a sideball/
    Ron

  4. I see that it pushes the sidebar down below. I like it, thanks, I will go with the copy across the page. I suppose if I want to remove the sidebar totally, I'd have to take off
    #content .entry-header, #content .entry-content {
    width: 100%;
    }

    #secondary {
    display: none;
    }

    Which remains above what you sent to me.

  5. kaniamea, I've searched in the forum for this but can't find the answer. I want to imbed a youtube video but not using the URL, using this:

    <iframe width="50" height="50" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/PycKSdKG_74" frameborder="0" </iframe>

    Can I do this either in the post copy or a widget or both?

  6. If you would like to remove the sidebar that is on your website now you can use:

    #tertiary {
        display: none;
    }

    Otherwise, I think your site looks good now!

  7. Do you mean you would like to have the video displayed instead of linking to it, Ron?
    Try this [embed] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PycKSdKG_74 [/embed]

  8. kaniamea, if you look at this Blogger blog

    http://thekidjamil.blogspot.com/

    at the top, right side widget I can put the youtube in any size I want and I can remove "allow full screen" so it won't open.

    I can even make it small enough so that only the play button is visible. I really like that but I can't figure out how do do that in WP. Perhaps you can't, what do you think.

  9. kaniamea, thanks. I've decided to leave on one sidebar. But at least I know how to remove it in the future. Tanks.

  10. I sent another reply after this one so I'm not sure if you saw this:

  11. Hi Ron,

    to embed a video in any size you want you can use:

    <iframe width="100" height="75" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/PycKSdKG_74?rel=0&showinfo=0&fs=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

    You can edit the size as you wish. The above example also hides the direct link to Youtube, so visitors don't leave your site.

    However, I'm not sure what you mean by saying that you can remove "allow full screen" on http://thekidjamil.blogspot.de/. If I click the button on the bottom right I can expand the screen.
