Widgets

    Hi,

    I have Adventure Journal Theme and use CSS.

    So two quick questions about widgets:

    1) I have the author widget prominently displayed first. How do I get the text above the picture to be centred and the description below the picture not to be?

    2) How do I remove the boxes around each widget and make so they are the same background colour as the main one?

    Thanks for your help.

    Arianna

    The blog I need help with is ariannasrandomthoughts.com.

  2. Hello there,
    I have flagged this so it will be moved to the CSS Forum where you can get help.

    Thanks :)

  4. Could you please always include a link to your blog in the first post in the future? In this case, I remembered seeing posts from you before and I found your site at http://ariannasrandomthoughts.com/

    1) I have the author widget prominently displayed first. How do I get the text above the picture to be centred and the description below the picture not to be?

    I checked your blog and I found that the top widget in your sidebar is currently an image widget. Each widget has a unique ID assigned to it which you can see by viewing the blog's page source after the widget is added. Your image widget currently has a heading that says, "ABOUT ME". To center that heading, you could add something like this to your Appearance → Custom Design → CSS page:

    #image-6 .widget-title {
    	text-align: center;
    }

    Note that this example is specific to the current widget setup on your site.

  5. 2) How do I remove the boxes around each widget and make so they are the same background colour as the main one?

    Do you mean you want to hide the curled paper look from all widgets on the right on your http://ariannasrandomthoughts.com/ blog? You could do that for all or your current widgets by adding this to your Appearance → Custom Design → CSS page:

    #secondary .widget,
    #tertiary .widget,
    #secondary .widget .wp-caption {
    	background: none;
    	background-color: transparent !important;
    }

    Thanks so much! Sorry for the confusion. Yes that is exactly what I was looking for. Next time, I will add the link to my blog - sorry.

    One last question if you have time, how can I reduce the space between the widgets in the right sidebar for ariannasrandomthoughts.com?

    Thanks so much @designsimply!!! I really appreciate it.

  8. Thanks about the links! It's helpful. :)

    To reduce the spacing between widgets on the Adventure Journal theme, you could start by setting the bottom margin and padding for every widget and widget caption to zero like this:

    #secondary .widget,
    #tertiary .widget,
    #secondary .widget .wp-caption {
    	margin-bottom: 0;
    	padding-bottom: 0;
    }

    If that takes away too much space, experiment with increasing one of the values from zero to a few pixels a little at a time until it looks good to you.

    Sounds good I will try that. Thanks so much! Have a great day.

    Next time I ask a question, I won't forget about the links :)

  10. Awesome. Links are super helpful. :)

    I like the way you're continuing to polish the design of your site.

    Thanks! Its a work in progress. I like learning as I go and updating it. Its fun! I think I posted again last week about having too much space. I may have forgotten to put a link in there too :(

  12. No worries at all.
