I'm trying to make all my pages look uniform, but the side column is just empty, unlike on the main blog page. How do you add widgits to pages you create? Or ANYTHING, for that matter?

Unfortunately, in the theme you're currently using the sidebar on pages is only used to display sub-pages of the page you're currently viewing.
If you're looking to display widgets on all of your pages you'll need to change theme form Appearance > Themes in your dashboard.
