width of borders

hey guys! i really want to make the margins go closer to the end of the screen, resulting in a wider page --- how do i code this?! THANK YOU:)

The blog I need help with is oliviaashtonphoto.com.

  2. I see you have it widened, but with it set to 1200px wide, do remember that 20% of web users are still on 1024px wide monitors which mean with a maximized browser window they have about 990px clear. That means people have to scroll horizontally to see your whole page, and that is one of the top ten things people dislike most on the web.

  3. I'm using a full page layout (no sidebar, Spectum) to present an opening graphic. I want to drop to a smaller column size, 700px, centered, for the rest of the very long Q&A that follows. I tried dropping a table in there but that doesn't work. Any ideas. .http://mpnforum.com/mpn-clinic/ Many thanks,

  5. Not having content to look at and try out, this is a little bit of a guess, but I think it should work.

Wrap the content you want at 700px in div tags and then use an inline style to set the width and left and right margins to "auto".

    <div style="width: 700px; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;">All the Q&A content here</div>

Let us know how that works.

  6. Put the opening div tag with the style declaration on a blank line right above the Q&A content and the ending div tag on a blank line below the content.

  7. Dynamite! Thank you...;love get pm hjat sacred path myself if it gives me these kind of chops. I tried it on one question only http://mpnforum.com/mpn-clinic/ (password protected, the password is clarinet) and changed the col width to 600 px. Struggled with Tables and CSS and align Center for two days.

    Zhen...

  8. You are welcome and it looks good. Just keep chipping away at things; that is what I've done over the years and each little success strengthen's your foundation and lets you continue up.
