Won't Show up on Search Engine

  1. Hey
My website will not show up on google. I tried copy pasting a paragraph from it, I googled the url, and I googled the site name, and still nothing showed up. I have it enabled for search engines, the site is visible, and you can view the site by typing in the url. What do I do?

The blog I need help with is kingstonirish.wordpress.com.

  2. You have a single post. It takes weeks for search engines to index content. What attracts search engines is unique content the cannot be found anywhere else on the internet. Keep publishing original content frequently and for more information on expediting search engine indexing of your content read > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2010/01/21/omg-i-cant-find-my-blog-on-google/

The process we use for verifying free hosted WordPress.com blogs with search engines is found here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/

NOTE: Even if you do not verify the blog the content will be indexed by search engines so don't feel panicky about this please.

WordPress.com provides the search engines with site maps. We bloggers do nothing. http://en.support.wordpress.com/sitemaps/

Lastly, we cannot assist with search engine issues. They are between the blogger and the search engine. http://en.support.wordpress.com/search-engines/

  3. Thank you timethief.
There are no posts, and not much to update frequently. We will be making it in a domain within the next few days. Will that help?

  4. It won't change anything when it comes to search engine indexing. Read the characteristics of Posts and Pages contrasted here and you will glean why that it is. http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2010/05/12/better-blogging-at-wordpress-com-pages-and-posts/

  5. You have what looks like a Page based site - always a tough sell

You need to make some Posts - you site calls up the search engines when it makes a Post - do you have any activities you do that you can write about? Even if it is a short Post with a single picture?

  6. thanks timethief and auxclass! I'll start adding posts regularly.

  7. Hooray! You gleaned exactly what must be done to get search engines attention. Publish posts, not pages, frequently.
