WordAds Terms of Service question

  1. Is it against the WordPress Terms of Service to accept samples of or payments for reviews/mentions of a product on your blog?

  2. Samples is fine but pay per blogging can be against the TOS. There is some liability where there have been bloggers that threaten advertisers with bad reviews if they don't pay, etc. Not that you would do that but this is a reason for the TOS section.

  3. Hi Jon! Thanks for getting back to me so quickly! This is good to know, and I completely understand. -Jules

  4. Hi again Jon - I apologize if I should start a new thread for this, but I was also wondering if WordAds bloggers are allowed to sell their OWN products (e.g., via an Etsy store)? I think I've seen others do this (especially artists who sell their drawings on t-shirts, mugs, etc.), but I just wanted to confirm. Thanks again!

That's not a WordAds question per say. The answer is "yes" you are allowed only to sell your own creations and/or services that you personally provide (no-reselling is allowed). Also note that no sponsored or paid content is allowed. http://en.support.wordpress.com/advertising/

Affiliate marketing blogs: Blogs with the primary purpose of driving traffic to affiliate programs and get-rich-quick schemes (“Make six figures from home!!”, “20 easy steps to top profits!!”, etc). This includes multi-level marketing (MLM) blogs and pyramid schemes.

To be clear, people writing their own original book, movie or game reviews and linking them to Amazon, or people linking to their own products on Etsy do NOT fall into this category. http://en.wordpress.com/types-of-blogs/
  6. Thanks so much, timethief! This is really helpful!
