wordpress blog + itunes store

  1. Okay guys I am far from a techie and I read around the site trying to find the answer to this question and I was not able to do so. I am using wordpress to host my blog/audio files for a podcast I am doing.

As I understand it, it is not possible to edit your sites metadata on wordpress.com. iTunes, however, demands that I edit my metadata so that certain criteria show up correctly in the iTunes music store.

Given that, is it possible/how do I edit my site so that correct author information/site description/site artwork show up correctly in the itunes Music store?

    http://itunes.apple.com/ca/podcast/topics-in-korean-history-podcast/id416500700

As you can see, the site author is listed as Unknown, the "description" is simply taken from the subtitle on my blog, and my album artwork is not showing up.
Is there any way to fix this or is this not something that can be done with wordpress.com?

I greatly appreciate any help anyone is able to offer me. :)

The blog I need help with is topicsinkoreanhistory.wordpress.com.

  2. sorry the blog in question is http://topicsinkoreanhistory.wordpress.com

  3. hey guys im sorry to self-bump this topic. I realize this is a forum run by volunteers and I greatly appreciate even the opportunity to ask this question but is there anyone who can help me? Thanks :)

  4. I know of no way to do this since we do not have access to, nor can we change any of the metadata.

I'll tag this thread for staff attention and hopefully they will respond here. If they don't within 24 hours, contact them directly at http://en.support.wordpress.COM/contact/ .

  5. thank you kindly. I was under the impression that you can use feedburner "augment" the uneditable metadata but I'm far from a techie and don't know where to start. Is this true?

  6. I've never done anything with iTunes so I'm sorry, I just don't know.

  7. Actually these meta tag changes should be made in the actual .mp3 file itself, not on the blog.

If you're using iTunes, you can edit the meta data on the file simply by right-clicking the file and selecting "Get Info."

  8. thank you kindly for your response macmanx but all the mp3 files had proper album artwork and artist information and yet the default itunes podcast graphic and "unknown author" showed up in the store.

I Guess its a mystery...but im still bummed out because I'm really try to make a high quality podcast and lacking proper data in the itunes store really runs counter to that.

apple really isnt any help in this situation either they don't even have someone you can contact about the itunes podcast listings... I will post and let you guys know if i manage to figure this out through some other means.

  9. also, the metadata that I think needs to be changed isn't related to the actual mp3s. its data that effects the "artist" page that shows up once you select the podcast in the itunes store. its the stuff that shows up before you even subscribe or select any of the mp3 files.

  10. The metadata for podcasts is provided by an XML file that iTunes uses, not the website that acts as a host itself. Check out what apple have to say about making a podcast and hopefully that will clear things up a bit.
