WordPress DNS A Record
-
Hi there,
I want use nameservers other than the ones provided by WordPress. In order to still have my domain linked to my blog I understand that I need to create an A Record in DNS settings, although I’m not sure what IP address / Host Name I should use, all the information I can find just says to change your nameservers to WordPress.
Thanks,
Mark
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You need to use a CNAME record, not A. (An A record specifies a single IP address. WordPress.com blogs don’t have a single IP address; they run on many servers at once, and have many IP addresses).
subdomain.domain.com. IN CNAME [your-blog].wordpress.com.
There’s more information about CNAMEs here, under the question about subdomains:
It’s not possible to use a CNAME for your root domain, so you won’t be able to use ‘yourname.com’ as your WordPress.com address if you’re using your own name servers. Instead you’ll need to use a subdomain like ‘blog.yourname.com’.

Great, thanks for that information.
If I change my blogs address to blog.mydomain.com, is is possible to set it up so that traffic to http://mydomain.com will automatically forward in the same way the myblog.wordpress.com does already?
