wordpress doesn't seem to be creating proper permalinks for my posts.

    The permalinks for my posts are being set as something like: https://signup.wordpress.com/activate/e2172f25ecb62a9a/2012/07/17/50/

    So when I try and click on it I am sent to a page which says "invalid activation key".
    Any ideas?

    There's a wide-spread technical "invalid activation key" issue evidenced by the multiple active threads on the front page of this forum all reporting the same issue. All have been flagged for Staff attention. If that's what you need help with than I suggest taking a break for a few hours and returning. Hopefully, Staff will have fixed this by then.

    I have only just started the blog so I hit the panic button...
    The "take a break" suggestion is a good idea.

    Sorry for the trouble!

    We identified and corrected the issue. The affected blogs are each being fixed individually.

    If yours has not been fixed yet, it should be in a few hours.

    is this still an issue? My permalinks are all going to my home page. On my subpages I am seeing numbered URLs. How can I fix that?

    Thanks timethief - I am sure you're being helpful... I did read it but they are not redirecting to the wordpress sign up page. I also read the Staff notice that said they would all be fixed in a few hours - but that was yesterday morning. Hence, the post.

    yavay, your blog is a self-hosted WordPress.org blog, which is entirely separate from WordPress.com, not affected by this issue, and we really can't help you with it.

    To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities.

    WordPress.org has complete support and documentation sites for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress via their Codex and Support Forums.
