WordPress Host Name

  1. How do I find my WordPress host name? I bought my URL through WordPress, and am not sure where I go to find out my domain's information. This domain was purchased upon setting up the blog through WordPress.

The blog I need help with is interstellarpolitics.com.

  2. Hi. To ensure we're pointing you in the right direction, could you please clarify what you are trying to do? Are you talking about an existing domain name that you'd like to use as an address for an existing blog hosted by WordPress.com?

  3. My domain name is interstellarpolitics.com. I purchased the domain name when I created interstellarpolitics.wordpress.com. I want to connect my Huffington Post account with my WordPress account. To do so, I need my "host", along with my username and password to connect HuffPo to WordPress.

I don't remember every choosing a specific host when I purchased the interstellarpolitics.com from WordPress, I figured it was just from WordPress itself. I've gone to settings and see my list of "domains", but can't find anything to locate its host and so forth.

  4. Thanks for the additional information. Could you clarify what they mean by "host" or why they need your username and password? Are you trying to make Huffington Post publish posts on your behalf?

(Or perhaps I'm not familiar enough with Huffington Post but another volunteer on the forums would be)?

  5. Yes, Huffington Post would post my comments to their news articles and blogs to my account, so anyone that views my profile (or perhaps my blog) would see my comments made. I'm not sure how it's going to work, which is why I'm allowing it. Huffington Post is a site I trust. I have my Tumblr, Facebook, and Twitter accounts connected (so I can choose when I want certain comments posted to those sites), and would like to do the same with WordPress.

I'm not sure exactly what they mean by Host. Could it just be that they want the website address? I'm not sure...

  6. I suggest you ask the HuffPo directly; they have support monkeys who will know exactly what they mean by that.

If they don't get back to you, I suggest using interstellarpolitics.wordpress.com rather than the custom domain; custom domains don't work well with OpenID, which is what I suspect they're using for this.

  7. Thanks. I didn't use interstellarpolitics.wordpress.com, but it didn't work either. I'll try and get a hold of HuffPo support.
