Hi, I have read and read forums etc. to find the answer to the above and am still confused! Please can someone tell am I able to upload an e-shop or shopping cart or similar to my site? If not, what is the alternative? Build my site all over again elsewhere? Building it again elsewhere is not a thought I even want to entertain right now as it took forever to get this one up and running. All advice welcome please. Many thanks.

No you cannot, and what is allowed here as far as selling things is very limited. Basically you can only sell things that you actually make with your own hands such as art pieces, paintings, and such, and if you wrote your own book and published it (not e-book but full fledged book, you can sell those things through an etsy shop.

Also, virtually none of the shopping cart code functions here. It's mostly got javascript in it.
Yes, my recommendation is to buy some hosting, install WordPress software from WordPress.org, and import the existing blog to there. It's not as hard as building from scratch, but yes it involves some work. You need to work to make sales, and the sooner you do this the easier it is.
