wordpress.com (probable DNS poisoning )

  1. Hello,

I am trying to access my blog http://uniquefish.wordpress.com and I am getting to a page with the following:

http://www.wordpress.com The owners of the domain name wordpress.com are accepting offers from interested parties willing to obtain ownership rights over the domain name. You may learn more about how to place your offer by clicking HERE.

In the rest of the page there is an iframe pointing to this:

    http://landing.domainsponsor.com/index.mas?epl=UVsPWVALXVUMVV8UVxcCQxNRFURNVlgMR1RqUVwJAFQABA

I suspect this is a DNS poisoning (or spoofing) problem. I managed to save the page in pdf as a proof.

Is this something that can be fixed by WP? Or is it my ISP's buggy/unpatched DNS servers problem?

Thanks in advance for your help/advice

  2. Seems to be a problem with your ISP's DNS servers. I can access your blog just fine.

  3. Seems like you got spyware

  4. Looks OK on my end also, check your ISP.

  5. willing to obtain ownership rights over the domain name.

You don't own that domain name because it ends in wordpress.com. Maybe someone hacked into your blog.

  6. Thanks for the help everyone. I am accessing my site via a different ISP, so it seems that my primary ISP's DNS servers got poisoned.

  7. Might help if we knew what your ISPs were so we could do a dig...

Still might be spyware though. We don't know what you're using for connections with your different ISPs. (ie one might be through a modem and the other through enet)

  8. Thanks all for your feedback.

I checked with my primary ISP in Greece (both ISPs are dialup) and indeed their DNS got poisoned. Just bare in mind that this activity might re-occur.
