   Hello everyone. I have been writing a book called; "Simple Observations." It is a humorous look at the absurdity of the world around us. It is a collection of short stories dealing with people, animals and everyday occurrences that we all face at one time or another. It is the first time I have attempted to write a book. Some people think it's hilarious, while others don't get some of the self-deprecating humor, sarcasm, or why so many things bother me. I am looking for an agent and publisher in the hopes of fulfilling a lifelong dream. Any feedback would be appreciated. Does it have a chance at success, or should I stay in my day job? I am still working on the manuscript in terms of polishing it up. Thank you for your time.

   I haven't got a clue if it will sell as a book, but I thought the stories on your blog were funny. I would suggest keeping the day job anyway. Most authors can't sustain themselves by writing only, unless you are writing TV news or for a hit sitcom.

   Keep the day job, but self-publish on Amazon or Smashwords in digital format (e-book) first, it costs nothing and is quick and easy. Then, if it sells, find a small press or an online publisher of paperback books and pay a nominal sum to have it produced. Alternatively, try Amazon's free publishing site or Lulu's free site, both produce paperback versions too. In doing it this way you are in control of your own book.
