Need help? Check out our Support site, then

yes, but that isn't my site I want patriciawinton.com

  1. I have been denied access to my web page patriciawinton.com. When I asked to reset my password, I was referred to an attempt I made three years ago. I want to connect to patriciawinton.com

The blog I need help with is patriciawinton.wordpress.com.

  2. Is there a person offering support and answering questions?

  3. This site http://patriciawinton.com/ is not a free hosted WordPress.com blog. WordPress.com and WordPress.org are separate and have separate logins and separate support forums. If you don't have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers.

  4. Your response makes no sense to me. I have a WordPress.com account and am hosted by GoDaddy. The login has worked (yesterday, for example) and for some reason I have access denied when I try to login today. Do you work for WordPress? If not, can you put me in contact with someone who does?

  5. I have a WordPress.com account and am hosted by GoDaddy.

Everyone who runs Akismet or Jetpack, etc. on a WordPress.org install has a WordPress.com account. What's key is where the blog is hosted. Your site is not being hosted by WordPress.com.

  6. WordPress doesn't allow me to login. That's a major issue.

  7. Indeed but it's not a WordPress.com issue and I tagged this thread for Staff to explain that to you. Your blog is a WordPress.org install hosted by GoDaddy and we cannot help you with it on these WordPress.com support forums. Here we provide support only for free hosted WordPress.com blogs.

  8. I've even tried to log in via GoDaddy, but access is denied. This is nonsense! I"ve paid, and I've worked hard. I"m really furious at being blocked and at not receiving any helpful response. I asked you to connect me with an employee if you are not one, but you haven't given me a contact. You just accuse me of making errors. I've done NOTHING different. Something withing the WordPress system is blocking me.

  9. Please observe that I already stated above that I tagged this thread for Staff support and please be patient while waiting.

  10. http://patriciawinton.com/ is a self-hosted WordPress.org blog, which we really can't help with.

To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities: http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

WordPress.org has complete documentation and support sites for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress.org at http://codex.wordpress.org/ and http://wordpress.org/support/

  11. This .org/.com nonsense is not helpful. About three-four years ago, I registered for a wordpress.com account and registered as patriciawinton. I didn't have enough experience to work with it, and I played around with a theme, but there was much to learn and I put it aside. Earlier this year, I began to try to learn in earnest. I linked the existing account to my GoDaddy patriciawinton.com domain name and set up a web page which has been in existence for a couple of months. For some reason, the .com address has been blocked. If I'm signed into WordPress, I can see both the patriciawinton and the patriciawinton.com accounts listed, but my access to the latter is blocked. It's also blocked through GoDaddy, so the problem is obviously through WordPress. Other people can view the site, but even from Google, I have access denied so that I can't even view it. Tomorrow morning, I'll take my mini to a WiFi access point to see if I can view the site and try to do something about the password. I've restarted my machine, removed cookies, and done everything else I can think of. I'm blocked access from even viewing my site.

  12. I am sorry, but we really cannot do anything for you here. The two are quite different. If it were a WordPress.com blog, I could access your account and change your password. Since it's a WordPress.org blog, I have no access to it.

If you ask at http://wordpress.org/support/ they will walk you through the steps you need to take.
