Yet another Widget moving to the bottom problem

    Hi folks,

    I have read through the other posts that discuss the problem of widgets moving to the bottom. Most of them talk about an oversized image or a post with improper html. Im not able to exactly find out what is moving my sidebar to the bottom.

    I'm guessing you're using Internet Explorer yes?

    I am on Firefox and the sidebar is fine. I can't start IE on the laptop or it will kill it, but at a guess I would say its the post about Rikshaws in NY. Try changing the status of that post to draft, view your blog in your browser and see if it's fixed. If not, let us know and we'll keep trying for you. :)

    The Delaware Trip post has an over-sized image in it that is driving your sidebar to the bottom. Here are the mamximum sizes of images that you can use without breaking your blog's lay out http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/09/25/how-big-can-my-images-be/

    Here is some unsolicited advice that will help you avoid these problems and decrease loading time for your readers. Your front page has huge images and lots of embeds on it and too many posts.

    Reduce the number of posts shown on the front page. -> Options -> Reading
    Blog Pages
    Show at most: ___posts
    Click "Update Options"

    Optimize your images before uploading them.
    Use smaller images and link them to the full sized images.
    This gives your readers an option of clicking on them or not.

    Shut off Snap Preview
    -> Presentation -> Extras
    Uncheck the checkbox and click "Update Extras"

    Thanks a lot folks! You guys are awesome!

    I have now reduced the number of posts 5 and removed snap preview. Now main page shows the widget properly. I guess like you folks mentioned the rikshaw or delaware post is what is causing the problem.

    I never cared about image sizes till now. Thanks for making me understand.
