Your Favourite Bands!

  1. I dunno if there's a thread about here somewhere; apparently not, and even if there is, I'll have to dig it up, hmm well do I see a search here, no, I don't, even if there is, evidently I shall have to search for it too; but never mind that!

I mostly listen to metal. Though I'm also fond of classic rock and classical. I love:
Iron Maiden, My Dying Bride, Arch Enemy, Anathema, Empyrium, The Gathering, Megadeth, Dark Tranquillity, Carcass, At the Gates, Cadaveria, Windir, Mayhem, Tristania, Behemoth, Paradise Lost, Pantera, Marduk, Black Sabbath, Children of Bodom, Nightwish (older stuff), Metallica (older stuff).

Among the non-metal stuff, I love Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Guns N' Roses, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Queen.

    What're your favourites?

  2. Good choice of topics!

I have wide rangings tastes as far as what I listen to daily (especially while handicapping), but overall my all-time favorites are:

    - Four Tops
    - Pink Floyd
    - Credence Clearwater Revival
    - Bob Marley
    - OutKast
    - The Beatles

Pretty random, huh? Looks like we have some in common though, ilovemint.

  3. Oh how could I forget CCR!

And yer that's totally random. ^^

    Marley RULES. :]

  4. Cunning Lynguists
    Bond
    Fatboy Slim
    Tiesto
    Scooter
    UB40
    Rez soundtrack
    All Podrunner tracks
    Lots and lots of trance.

Never got into Led Zep / Deep Purple but Sabbath, AC/DC (with Bon Scott) were good.

  5. haha, is there really a band called cunning lynguists?

my taste is music is rather generic. all the pop stuff and top 40 music. i like john mayer, michael learns to rock, kelly clarkson, lighthouse family, mika, carrie underwood, daughtry (yes, i'm addicted to american idol)... fluff stuff.

  6. City or Colour
    Nickelback
    Default
    3 Days Grace
    Evanescense
    90's Alternative

I like most music, but am partial to more of that type of music. I am also a TV music reality show junkie ;)

  7. i don't really like nickelback, i love their song rock star!

  8. I own property in the town they grew up in, so it might just be a little bias!

  9. I like most music, but am partial to more of that type of music. I am also a TV music reality show junkie ;)

Something I wouldn't have expected from you!

I listen to anything really. I like all the Indie stuff that's been around, I like The Who, Beatles, anything really.

There's been some good UK music as well, like The Twang.

  10. @sulz - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cunninglynguists

A Piece of Strange and the latest album Dirty Acres are both amazing.

  11. ooo, it's a hip hop group. never thought you like music like that. =P

  12. I'm all over the map. You name it and I probably listen to it. My most recent favorite is Nightwish. I don't care for the new lead singer much, but they're still good. I keep the XM radio in my car tuned to channel 8 (the Eighties).

  13. ^^ Nightwish used to be great back in the day with Tarja. Annette is no match for her, and now Nightwish just sounds poppy metal :-(

btw, Tristania are also a female-fronted symphonic metal band, and they're ten times better than Nightwish, imo.

  14. I'll have to check Tristania out. I posted an entry yesterday with one Nightwish video along with links to some other blogs that were discussing their opinions of Anette. One author replied in my comments and said that Tuomas purposefully went with a different style for Anette. She also said that Anette sounded better live. *shrug*

  15. I like just about anything, but I'm leaning more towards alternative bands these days. I still love Nick Cave and I like the new Klaxons album, and Bloc Party. I keep coming back to Keane, Oasis and Coldplay as well, and Portishead. And I like most of the 80s bands. Big U2 fan, as well as Guns N' Roses, Aerosmith, INXS and Midnight Oil. :)

  16. Ah U2 - how did I leave them off?

  17. It's a simple slip. There are just too many out there. That's why I say "everything" and pick one "current" favorite. :-)

  18. U2
Nine Inch Nails (who have a blog here)
    The Beatles
Bruce Cockburn who isn't a group but who nonetheless needs mentioning
