Youtube Video embeds on Mobile Devices

  1. Hello there,
I've embedded a number of youtube videos on my site and they are all playing fine. However, when I view my webpage on an iphone or other small screen, the video icons look distorted in terms of dimension (the width looks fine, but the the height is too much). Note, then when you play the videos, they move to full screen and look fine. My problem is with the actual embedded image on the page.

I would like to resize the youtube videos so they look more like squares than rectangles on small mobile devices (which would require reducing the height). Is there anyway to make these video embeds responsive? I know you can use youtube shortcode to change the height . . .but I want to change the height only on the small mobile screens. Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!

    Justin

The blog I need help with is thedoublecuts.com.

  3. Your theme is s responsive layout theme http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/responsive-layout/

The mobile theme is a completely different theme. Know that responsive width means the layout adapts depending on the size of the device being used to view your site. When responsive width themes are viewed on mobiles sidebars appear below the posts in order to provide as much space as possible for reading. When you use a responsive layout theme you go to > Appearance > Mobile and disable the mobile theme

    Have you done that?

  5. Hi there. I am aware of the mobile and responsive theme distinctions. I am currently not using the mobile theme.

The youtube videos are scaling with the responsive theme in terms of width but the height is not scaling correctly. The video embeds remain much taller than they are wide, suggesting the height of the video doesn't scale.

  6. I tried searching the forums and couldn't find a solution to this. Has anyone figured out an answer?
